Although the Red Card Project is primarily headed by the Student World Assembly and its committed members, several other organizations have been instrumental in coordinating the program's events and activities including mobilizing resources for its implementation.
Student World Assembly
The Student World Assembly is a non-governmental, nonÂpartisan organization created to represent students globally. It provides a deliberative assembly where students around the world can exchange views and translate these views into meaningful actions. Initially launched at California Polytechnic State University in 2003, the Student World Assembly has since expanded to represent approximately 19,000 members from 1500 colleges and universities, representing 150 countries around the world.
The Student World Assembly believes in democratic values; the dignity and worth of all human beings; equal rights for all men and women; social, economic, and cultural justice for every person; and the freedom to promote these causes. SWA chapters in universities worldwide offer a powerful instrument for addressing the vital social and political issues that threaten our global future. By giving students from around the world an equal opportunity to voice their opinions, SWA enables all students to educate themselves, participate in the discourse surrounding pressing global issues, take action to address these issues, and begin thinking of themselves as global citizens.
