Red Card Project New York 2010
In addition to our 2010 efforts surrounding the FIFA World Cup Games in South Africa, the Red Card Project team made up of Members of Student World Assembly, of Alumni MALAVE Leadership Academy and CUNY student advocates will also work to tackle human trafficking in New York City. Recognizing that New York City is a prominent hub for sex trafficking, the Red Card team will work to raise awareness of human trafficking by fostering discourse among local communities and creating valuable partnerships with existing organizations. In collaboration with the Office of the Deputy Mayor of Legal Affairs, Carol A. Robles-Román, and through the use of extensive research, guest lecturers and mentors, and public presentations, our team will not only educate the local public on how to fight human trafficking here in New York City and abroad in South Africa, but it will also ensure that team members increase their expertise as much as possible before their travels.
